Our National Bursary scheme helps final year students experiencing financial difficulty due to an ongoing adversity. Read on for more information on who is eligible and how to apply.
The Pharmacist Support National Student Bursary Scheme was launched in the 2014/15 academic year. The scheme is to help 3rd year pharmacy students (4th year if you’re doing a sandwich degree) who will be going into their final year of study. You must be a student who is facing financial difficulty and able to demonstrate qualities to overcoming an ongoing adversity, such as serious ill health or being the victim of a crime, and who is able to maintain a strong academic performance.
We are very proud to confirm that the scheme is now in its 9th year and is supported by the pharmacy schools across Great Britain.
This year we received 49 applications from students across 19 schools of pharmacy.
Each year we receive applications from students who have experienced challenging misfortune. Again, the bursary panel had the incredibly difficult task of choosing from a shortlist of 17 MPharm students and eventually after much deliberation, agreed on the final 9. Through this year’s scheme the charity has been able to support 6 individuals with an award of either £3,000 or £5000 and 3 students with £1,500 bringing the total number of students helped through the bursary scheme to 90 and the total amount awarded to £280,000.
Dates and the application process for the 2024 Bursary Scheme will be released early 2024.
Any student actively enrolled on an MPharm degree course and experiencing unexpected financial difficulty is eligible to apply for a student hardship grant during the academic year.
