Wardley Wellbeing Service

The Wardley Wellbeing Service is here to support you and your team to prioritise your mental, physical and emotional health. Through the service, you can access a range of individual and group training.

The Wardley Wellbeing Service is dedicated to supporting the wellbeing and mental health of our pharmacy family.

It was developed as a result of a legacy that was left to the charity in 2012 in memory of pharmacy owner Robert Wardley. Robert understood the pressures those in the profession face and wanted his legacy to be used to support pharmacists struggling with stress. His gift has enabled the charity to research and develop this wellbeing service consisting of a range of workshops and online support tools to help you and your team manage your wellbeing.

There are two areas in the Wardley Wellbeing Service:

Wellbeing Learning Platform (for individuals)

Wellbeing Workshops (for pharmacy teams and student groups)

Further information about each area is available below.

You can also find lots of resources, guidance and support for mental health and wellbeing on our website, including:

  • Wellbeing self-study learning modules
  • Downloadable and printable resources to use with your team
  • Tips and advice from your pharmacist family across the country

Wellbeing Workshops

Our Wellbeing Workshops are for teams of pharmacists and pharmacy students. They’re packed with information, tools and techniques to help you recognise the signs and symptoms of stress and deal with everyday pressures. They will help you find a way not only to survive but to thrive.

Due to COVID-19 we are unable to deliver our popular face-to-face workshops but now have six workshops available online. All content is recorded with planned activities. All that is required is a host who will oversee the delivery and organise group participation in the exercises.

Introduction to Wellbeing

This workshop is a perfect way to introduce the topic of wellbeing. It covers stress, behaviour cycle and personality drivers, identifying what can negatively impact wellbeing. The workshop explores techniques for dealing with feelings of pressure and tips to inspire a healthier lifestyle, including positive self-reflection and the five ways to wellbeing.

Length: 1 hour (including activities)

Stress Management and Building Resilience

This workshop provides a deeper dive into wellbeing and looks at how to build resilience. As well as covering the science behind stress and anxiety and its effects, this workshop provides an insight into how our mindset can impact our wellbeing. It provides techniques for dealing with feelings of pressure including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and encourages participants to identify and build on strengths, explain the advantages of positive thinking and self-reflection, in addition to providing tips to enhance resilience and wellbeing.

Length: 1 hour 45 minutes (including activities)

Time Management

This workshop provides an understanding of how you currently manage your time with ideas and tips to help you manage your time more effectively.  This includes exploring techniques in planning, prioritising and delegation and touches on building confidence through assertiveness.

Length: 1 hour 15 minutes (including activities)

Introduction to Assertiveness

This workshop provides an understanding of assertiveness and the benefits it can provide in the workplace. It explores different communication styles and how to recognise them. The workshop will help you to increase your confidence through building assertiveness, encouraging positive relationships and learning how to set boundaries.

Length: 1 hour 30 minutes (including activities)

Live the Life you Want to Lead

This workshop was created for those of us who feel we’d like to make a change in our lives, but aren’t sure where to begin. The workshop starts with an exploration of values and how these can inform our goals, then looks at goal-setting and habit formation. We look at habits of mind and how we can move through self-defeating thoughts, as well as how gratitude can help.  (Please not that this workshop is currently only available to be facilitated by us.)

Length: 1 hour 30 minutes (including activities)

The Science Behind Wellbeing

This workshop covers what happens in the body and mind when stressed, looks at practices that can help, and explores the science behind these practices. We look at self-care and wellbeing, relaxation and meditation, sleep, relationships, and more, with a healthy dose of neuroscience thrown in. (Please not that this workshop is currently only available to be facilitated by us.)

Length: 1 hour 30 minutes (including activities)

For further information or to book one of our online workshops as a host please email wellbeing@pharmacistsupport.org.

I found this workshop really interesting and helpful. The suggestion of diarising our stressful situations is a great idea for reflection too.
