Listening Friends

Listening Friends is a free and confidential helpline staffed by trained volunteer pharmacists who provide a listening ear to fellow pharmacists and pharmacy students struggling with stress, or simply in need of a sympathetic, non-judgemental person to talk to.

Our Listening Friends peer support service provides callers with an opportunity to talk about the stresses or pressures working in or studying pharmacy may be causing them. Our volunteers do not provide advice, but they recognise the pressures of pharmacy practice and will offer the time and space to talk through those issues to try to find clarity. This may also involve directing the caller to more specialist help listed on our website or back to the Pharmacist Support Office.

The Role

As a Listening Friend your role is to provide confidential peer support over the telephone. You will  provide a listening ear and a safe, non judgemental space for the caller and although your role is not to provide advice, you can signpost beneficiaries to appropriate resources and organisations using the Pharmacist Support website.
