Planning your Fundraising Event

If you're planning a fundraising event, take a look at our ten simple steps to draw up a plan of action and get you started on your Pharmacist Support fundraising journey.

Planning your fundraising event in ten easy steps

Before you go full steam ahead with your fundraising event, it’s important to draw up a plan of action. As well as downloading our free fundraising pack, here are ten useful steps when planning your event:

1. Pick something fun to do and set your target

If it’s your first fundraising event, keep it simple and start with what you know – or even tag a fundraising element onto an existing event. If you’re a regular at putting on events, you could try something a little more adventurous.

Set yourself a target of how much you want to raise; it’ll give you that extra bit of incentive to really go for it.

2. Download our free fundraising resources

You can download and print a wide variety of free Pharmacist Support fundraising resources to help you plan and promote your fundraising event.

3. Set a date, time and venue

See what events are happening near you or more generally around this date to make sure your activity does not clash with another event. If you need a venue, ask yourself the important questions: will it appeal to my target audience? Is it accessible? What will it cost? Is it available the date I want it?

4. Set up a fundraising page

Once you’ve decided on your fundraising activity, you will need to decide how you want to collect the cash and send it to our charity. We recommend setting up a free fundraising page on a platform like Just Giving to easily promote your activity and manage donations.

5. Tell everyone

If people don’t know about your event they won’t turn up! There are many ways to invite people to your event and the more you tell people about it, the more attendees are likely to come. Try inviting people in person, by word-of-mouth, a phone call or text, email and social media. Remember to tag us in any social media posts on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter. If you’re aiming wider, you can download some promotional material such as our fundraising pack, posters and social media posts. Don’t forget your local newspaper or group/employee newsletter too.

Tips for promoting your event

By telling lots of people about your event, you may even get offers of support. You could utilise people’s skills, talents and connections to plan and promote your event … and they may want to get involved with the activity itself too!

6. Stay safe

  • Use trusted venues and online platforms
  • Carry a first aid kit
  • Know where the fire exits are
  • Check any equipment you’re using
  • You can get free health and safety advice from The Health and Safety Executive online.

7. Remember you’re helping people within your profession

If you start to lose momentum, remember why you’re supporting Pharmacist Support. Inspire potential donors with our case studies – let them know that every penny you raise will help support our charity and others in your profession facing a range of challenging situations.

8. Let us know

We love to hear about our TEAMGreen fundraisers so please let us know if you’re planning a fundraising event or sponsored activity for us.
