2017 saw the Pharmacist Support national student bursary scheme present its 4th round of awards. Piloted in 2014, the scheme has enabled the charity to assist pharmacy students facing financial hardship who have demonstrated outstanding and exceptional qualities to overcome an ongoing adversity and maintain sound academic performance through a bursary of up to £5000.
This year the charity received 40 applications and made 12 awards totaling £25,000 to students entering their final year of study in September 2017.
“The bursary has been a great form of support that has enabled me to focus on my studies without having to worry about working part time. It has also allowed me to undertake valuable pharmacy summer placements. Moreover, I am currently carrying out my dissertation externally within a hospital that has required me to travel quite a bit and I have been able to attend conferences to support my learning and research.”
Applications for the 2017/2018 academic year are now open and you can find further information regarding eligibility and how to apply here.
