This past week – aka #VolunteersWeek – has encouraged us to connect with the amazing folk who donate their time to support the charity’s work. Here are just a few of our highlights from our Listening Friends, Home Visitors and Ambassadors who shared with us their reasons for volunteering and what they enjoy most about being part of #TeamPS!

Ambassadors

Sophie:

“I loved the energy that the Pharmacist Support team had and the enthusiasm they showed when talking to students about the support they could offer to undergraduates. I felt inspired by them and wanted to be a part of it too!”

Afshan:

“I love giving back to fellow colleagues and making them aware of what’s available. Being through some low moments myself, it’s reassuring to know that there are people that understand your work and can help you. The listening friends scheme is something that i found invaluable and I wanted everyone to know about this amazing charity.”

Kahinat:

“I enjoy participating in hosting information stands, & in helping to support and strengthen the pharmacy profession.”

“I’m passionate about being a pharmacist and the profession – it feels great to give back to profession I am part of.”

Khilna: 

“I love helping and supporting people. It is a very positive experience for me and seeing the benefits it provides to others is fantastic. You meet many different people through volunteering and we all can share and learn from each other. I find it a very enriching and humbling experience.”

Listening Friends:

Unfortunately we cannot name our Listening Friends as it is key to this service that they remain anonymous.

“I signed up to volunteer with Pharmacist Support when I realised that a need had been recognised for this and a service was being developed to provide a tailored response from pharmacists who could appreciate the context of the callers.”

So there we have it folks! We are truly thankful for the amazing work our volunteers do. You guys really do inspire us and your support is invaluable not only to us here in the office, but more importantly to all those we help.
