Paolo is an Italian pharmacist and has been in London since January 2013. After finding the transition to the UK pharmacy sector challenging, he reached out to us for support.
After 8 years as a Pharmacy Manager in Italy, I decided that I wanted a new challenge and came here to the UK. I spent around 6 months and lots of money seeking a job in London but unfortunately no one would consider my application because I had no job experience here. I was searching for someone who could help me to find the right path and support me. Then I joined the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and had the chance to meet Pharmacist Support. As soon as I sent an email to the charity I received fantastic help and support and have been able to find my way.
They referred me to a specialist advisor in order to claim for benefits. It was very useful for helping me understand how to do this. They also sent me an application form for financial assistance and soon after I received a grant. This was helpful in terms of allowing me to continue my job search.
Soon after I had the opportunity to get my foot in the door working for an independent pharmacy group based in Hertfordshire. I started as a technician and in 2014 and worked my way up to Pharmacist Manager.
That is why I joined the Charity as an Ambassador. I’d like to give back by helping the charity and others in need.
