Can YOU help Pharmacist Support?
We are looking to recruit up to four individuals (pharmacists and non pharmacists) with a range of skills and from a variety of backgrounds to join our current board of trustees in providing strategic direction and leadership to Pharmacist Support.
Pharmacists are dedicated healthcare professionals who put patients and the public at the heart of what they do. The responsibility they hold, helping to keep patients and the public safe in their use of medicines, can place them under great pressure.
We aim to relieve poverty and financial hardship for pharmacists, former pharmacists and their families and students of pharmacy, and to provide effective support and information to promote a positive existence. Our objectives are:
- to provide high quality services to meet the need of the people we help
- to use the Wardley legacy to support pharmacists and pharmacy students in preventing and managing stress
- to raise awareness of the charity
- to optimise income and expenditure to ensure the future of the charity.
As a trustee we ask that you commit to the equivalent of a day a month. Each trustee is required to attend four formal board meetings a year, requiring preparation and reading time. In addition it is likely that you will be involved in working group meetings on specific topics (for example finance or staffing and remuneration), general strategy and policy review meetings, training sessions or events and activities promoting the charity. We prefer to meet in person, and most meetings are held on weekdays in Manchester at the charity’s office. All travel expenses will be reimbursed.
If successful your term of office will begin in December 2017 and last 3 years, with the possibility of a second term subject to a satisfactory peer appraisal.
How to apply
If you would like to join us in making life better for pharmacists and their families in their times of need, then please send your CV with a covering letter (of not more than two sides of A4) outlining your experience and what you feel you have to offer the charity.
CVs can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or sent by post to Recruitment, Pharmacist Support, 5th Floor 196 Deansgate, Manchester M3 3WF.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview with a panel of current trustees in Manchester.
