We caught up with Daniel following the Awards.

How did you feel when you found out you’d been nominated for the award, and then went on to win?
Being nominated for the Student Wellbeing Champion of the Year Award came as a complete surprise, as I was not aware that I had been nominated. Hearing my name announced at the BPSA awards night was even more unexpected. It felt both humbling and deeply rewarding, and it meant a lot to have something I care so strongly about recognised.
-
What inspired you to establish such strong wellbeing initiatives during your time at the University of Bath?
My motivation has always come from seeing first-hand how demanding pharmacy, and the MPHARM course in particular, can be, and how easily wellbeing can be overlooked. I wanted to help create a culture where looking after yourself is seen as just as important as academic and professional success.
-
What impact have your wellbeing efforts had on other students?
During my time studying pharmacy at the University of Bath, I hope I have helped to normalise conversations around wellbeing and make support feel more accessible. Even small changes can make a real difference in helping students feel less isolated and more supported.
-
What are your plans after university, and do you hope to continue your wellbeing work during your foundation training?
Looking ahead, I am keen to continue this work into my foundation training and beyond, embedding wellbeing into both education and practice.
-
If you could share three top wellbeing tips for pharmacy students nationwide, what would they be?
For me, wellbeing comes down to maintaining balance, staying connected with others, and not being afraid to ask for support. For anyone considering a similar role, I would absolutely encourage you to go for it. It is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference
-
What advice would you give to someone considering taking on a similar role at their university?
Even small actions can create lasting change, and that is what makes this work so important.
Pharmacist Support has been working with the BPSA for many years, united by a shared aim of supporting pharmacy students throughout their studies and introducing the charity at the very start of their professional journeys.
