We’re seeking new Trustees

We welcome interest from individuals of all ages, backgrounds, cultures, and levels of experience, keen to share their expertise and join our team!

As a charity, we rely heavily on a dedicated team of volunteers to support our work. At the beginning of 2021, we announced plans to enhance our volunteer schemes to ensure that they reflect the diverse experiences, backgrounds and needs of all in our pharmacy family. The charity is delighted to kick start its volunteer focused activity with the announcement of several Trustee vacancies and an opportunity for anyone interested to get involved.

We welcome interest from individuals (both pharmacists and non-pharmacists) of all ages, backgrounds, cultures, and levels of experience, keen to share their expertise and join our team of experienced and dedicated Trustees, volunteers, and staff.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone with a passion for supporting people across our pharmacy family” commented Pharmacist Support Chief Executive Danielle Hunt.

“As an organisation we not only want to ensure our services reflect the needs of and are accessible to all in our Pharmacy family, but that the makeup and skills of our team also reflect this diversity. We’re keen to highlight that ‘lived’ experience is more important than previous Board or Trustee experience as full training will be given.

“With an exciting five-year strategy in place, the charity is in a really exciting period of development. We encourage anyone who feels they could contribute to our dynamic and innovative charity, to get in touch.”

About the role

The trustee board plays a key role in developing the charity’s future strategy and supports the Chief Executive to ensure our small but passionate, hard-working and dedicated staff team can realise the charity’s objectives. Together they ensure the charity is managed in line with its purpose and oversee governance in accordance with the Charity Commission’s requirements and expectations. Being a trustee means making decisions that will impact on people’s lives and you will be making a difference to the wellbeing of our beneficiaries.

Pharmacist Support is looking to recruit several trustees (both pharmacists and non-pharmacists) to our Board. Interested applicants would need to be able to commit to approximately a day of their time per month. Each Trustee is required to attend four formal Board meetings a year, requiring preparation and reading time and is likely to be involved in working group meetings on specific topics (for example finance or staffing and remuneration), general strategy and policy review meetings, training sessions or events and activities promoting the charity.

Where possible Board meetings take place in person at the charity’s Manchester office but we can offer the facility to attend meetings virtually.  Whilst most meetings are currently held during working hours on weekdays, the Board will look to offer flexibility and accommodate personal availability wherever possible (which can include evening meetings).  Reasonable expenses to facilitate attendance at meetings will be reimbursed.

The closing date for applications is Monday 2nd August 2021 at 12 noon and interviews will be held in Manchester on Wednesday 29th September and Friday 1st October 2021.
