It is with great sadness that we share the news that our much-loved colleague, Wendy, passed away unexpectedly.

A life that touched so many

Wendy was a cherished member of the Pharmacist Support team for more than a decade. During that time, she touched the lives of thousands of people across our pharmacy family through her kindness, compassion and unwavering commitment to helping others. For many of the people who came to us for support, Wendy was one of the first voices they heard. Time and again, beneficiaries would tell us how much her warmth, empathy and understanding meant to them during some of the most difficult times in their lives.

To all those who knew Wendy through Pharmacist Support, whether as a beneficiary, volunteer, partner or colleague, we wanted to share how much she meant to us.

Wendy had a wonderful ability to make people feel heard, valued and cared for. She always found time to listen, embodying the very heart of what Pharmacist Support stands for.

Remembering the person behind the role

Those of us who had the privilege of working alongside Wendy will remember so much more than her dedication to her role. We’ll remember conversations about our allotments, her love of books and the book swap she started in the office, her wonderfully dry sense of humour and her enthusiasm for Lego, Halloween and all the little things that made her uniquely Wendy.

As we’ve invested more time in wellbeing as a team over the years, Wendy particularly enjoyed some of our more creative and quirky activities. There was the afternoon spent painting plaster of Paris penguins, each with its own unique design, and our pumpkin carving, which Wendy found particularly funny. These simple moments brought us together as a team and gave us plenty of laughter along the way – memories that now feel all the more precious.

She brought warmth, laughter and friendship into our everyday lives, and our office simply won’t be the same without her.

Wendy wasn’t one for the limelight and preferred to be behind the camera rather than in front of it, so to honour her wishes we’re sharing an image that reflects one of the things she loved most – gardening. It feels a fitting way to remember someone who found so much joy in the simple things and quietly helped others to flourish.

While we are heartbroken by her loss, we are incredibly grateful for the time we shared with her and for the lasting impact she had on our charity and on so many people within our pharmacy family.

A lasting legacy

In Wendy’s memory, we will continue the office book exchange she created through Wendy’s Little Library – a small but meaningful reminder of her love of reading, her generosity and her belief that every story is better when it’s shared.

As a team, we’ll also spend time together at one of Wendy’s favourite places, Manchester’s beautiful John Rylands Library. With her love of old buildings, history and, of course, a good crypt, it feels like a particularly fitting place for us to remember her together.

Wendy will be deeply missed by everyone at Pharmacist Support, but the kindness, care and encouragement she shared with so many people will continue to live on through the lives she touched.
