We’re delighted to welcome Malika to the Pharmacist Support team.
She joins us from Girlguiding North West England, where she was Head of Marketing and Communications, bringing extensive experience in social media, communications, marketing, recruitment, and partnerships. Malika is already getting to grips with our work and helping shape how we share our message with the pharmacy community.
We asked her a few quick questions so you can get to know her. Here’s what she had to say:
What drew you to join our charity?
Before joining Pharmacist Support, I worked as Head of Marketing & Communications for Girlguiding North West England, the largest youth organisation dedicated to girls. I’ve always been passionate about working in the non-profit sector and giving back to communities. When I came across this role, I immediately felt aligned with Pharmacist Support’s values and was excited to bring my skills and experience to the team. Meeting the team only reinforced that feeling, their warm welcome made it clear I’d found the right place.
What made this role feel like the right fit for you?
I’ve always been a creative person, and over the past few years, taking the time to truly understand myself has had a hugely positive impact on my wellbeing. When I saw this role advertised, it immediately stood out as the perfect fit. Not only does it align with my values, but it also supports my commitment to maintaining a healthy lifestyle and helping others do the same.
I was drawn to how varied the role is I enjoy working across multiple tasks and projects, and this position offers exactly that. It provides the opportunity to showcase everything Pharmacist Support stands for: it’s incredible services, inspiring case studies from those who’ve been helped, and the chance to bring ideas to life through creative freedom and project management. All of this made the role feel like such a natural and exciting match for me.
What excites you most about your new role?
What excites me most about my role is the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while continuing to grow professionally. I’m especially excited by the chance to work with a team that values innovation and collaboration. I’m looking forward to bringing fresh ideas, learning from others, helping drive results and strategic goals all whilst being creative!
What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
I am obsessed with heavy metal music, and love to go to hard core shows, However, I do also like a bit of Lana Del Rey & Taylor Swift, so I have a super varied music taste.
If you could describe your perfect weekend, what would it look like?
My perfect weekend would ideally be, gym first thing in the morning, followed by a chai latte or something with coffee, a walk in the outdoors seeing lots of dogs followed by some good food and comfy clothes on the sofa to chill out.
Favourite book, film, or album?
I am trying to get into reading more, so this is a new Hobbie for me however I would say my favourite book is ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’. For a film it would have to be Labyrinth, I absolutely love David Bowie, and the concept of the movie is magical. My favourite album is from a band called Boundaries ‘Death Is Little More’ I would say give it a listen but it’s angry!
If you could have dinner with any three people, past or present, who would they be?
My ideal three dinner guests would be, Oli Sykes a musician from a band called Bring Me the Horizon, Alan Rickman who played Severus Snape along with many other amazing roles in his career and David Bowie of course…
Finally, sum yourself up in three words!
Caring, Determined and Passionate.
