Wills are amazing things – they help you to protect your family’s future whilst giving you an opportunity to support a cause close to your heart. Here one of our supporters tells us about their experience of writing a Will and why they left a gift to Pharmacist Support.
“I had occasionally thought about updating my Will, because priorities change over time, and the ‘Remember a Charity in your Will’ week seemed like a great opportunity to do this.
A telephone discussion with the solicitor at Penningtons Manches law firm, covered all the relevant points and shortly afterwards I received a draft Will which matched my expectations as well as covering all the legal requirements.
My previous Will had not mentioned any charity, and the process of drawing up this new one meant that I could give careful thought to including explicit instructions to my executors, to remember Pharmacist Support with a legacy.
I know that the charity receives regular donations thanks to its fundraising activities, but legacies are also a crucial source of funding, which is necessary if Pharmacist Support is to be able to continue to assist our colleagues when in time of need.
Making a Will, and doing so properly with expert legal advice, is important if the distribution of assets is to follow the wishes of the deceased. I would encourage everyone to consider making a Will – and if charitable legacies are part of their plans, to remember Pharmacist Support.”
Donations from individuals and organisations continue to play a vital part in our work today supporting pharmacists and their families, Mpharm students, pre-registration trainees and former pharmacist facing difficult times.
