Hero Profile: Kirsty Matthews

Kirsty is a pharmacist working in mental health. As a former service user, she understands just how important and useful services like the Listening Friends scheme and the specialist advice service can be.

Why did you decide to become a 175 Hero?

I needed to use the services of Pharmacist Support in 2014 – they were there for me when I needed it the most. I was able to use their Listening Friends service and I spoke to their Citizens’ Advice Bureau adviser, Vicky, a fantastic solicitor who really helped me in my hour of need. I couldn’t have got through the end of 2014 without Pharmacist Support. I paid nothing for the services that I used and they were very responsive and friendly, fantastic!

What hero fundraising activities have you got planned?

I am making lunch for my colleagues at work to raise money and I will have an evening dinner with some of my friends.

Why is the charity important to you?

They are there for pharmacists when we need them. They are friendly and so supportive and I hope that should I need them again that they will still be around. I hope they can help many others too.

Why do you think others should join the Pharmacist Support #175Hero Team?

It’s a fantastic charity. I didn’t know about it but it offers so much right up to retirement. We should all raise money to ensure that the good work can go on!
