Hero Profile – Heather Bridge

Heather is a final year pharmacy student at the University of Manchester and is one of our Student Ambassadors alongside her studies.  She likes to stay active by taking on new challenges including 55 mile walks and has donned the Green Santa suit and joined the PS family on the Jingle Bell Jog 2017.  Here she tells us all about her next challenge to raise money for the charity.

Why did you decide to become a Pharmacist Support Fundraising Hero?

Pharmacist Support is an essential organisation who provide aid to pharmacists in their career and pharmacy students during their studies. I think it is important to give something back to an amazing charity, who have helped me and people around me progress through the MPharm course. As someone who works in community pharmacy alongside my studies, I believe raising awareness of Pharmacist Support and the services they provide can make a big difference to the wellbeing of pharmacy professionals.

What hero fundraising activities have you got planned?

I am running the Manchester Half Marathon on Sunday 18th October for Pharmacist Support. To raise money I will be doing other activities at University to reach my fundraising target, including bake sales.

Why is the charity important to you?

Pharmacists are a vital part of the healthcare team, it is important they know there is a support structure in place to look after them, allowing them to help as many people as possible in the community. It is important that people within the profession feel they have someone to talk to, from the first day of University and throughout their careers.

Why do you think others should join the Pharmacist Support Fundraising Hero Team?

The world of pharmacy is constantly changing, and it is important that we feel supported in our profession every step of the way, in order to help us deliver the best possible care to the community. It is rewarding and exciting knowing that you are contributing to the world of pharmacy to raise awareness of the charity – whilst having fun at the same time!

Please help Heather smash her fundraising target by donating to her Just Giving Page here.
