On Thursday 23rd March Pharmacist Support held its very first Hero Awards. The event, hosted by Charity Chair Professor Peter Noyce and Chief Executive Diane Leicester-Hallam, saw the charity present 10 awards to individuals, groups and organisations who supported us in our 175th anniversary year. The Fundraising Hero Award was presented by Diane.
Individual who raised the most money for the Charity in 2016.
“Our penultimate award for the evening goes to someone who, after much deliberation as to how he was going to achieve his fundraising target – having pronounced he was no runner – hit the streets and took on the challenge of the Bradford Half Marathon! This individual will certainly not be a stranger and can usually be found at conferences and in restaurants across the country with his now infamous extendable arm! This individual helped the charity secure the highly successful SuperHero Selfie Station at the 2015 Pharmacy Show and as a result of his non runner, running challenge individually raised the most money for the charity in our 175th anniversary year. Raising a phenomenal £1,611 for Pharmacist Support, I’m delighted to announce that the winner of our Fundraising Hero Awards is King of the pharma selfie Mr Mohammed Hussain!”
Mohammed had this to say – “Pharmacy is the third largest caring profession and we strive to improve lives by better use of medicines. Pharmacists are not immune to the stresses and challenges of modern living and this is why I stand by Pharmacist Support, a dedicated charity that seeks to help pharmacists when they need someone to help them in their moments of need. How we look after each other in our profession is a reflection of the values of a caring profession. I am privileged to have had the opportunity to raise funds for such an amazing cause. “
Presenting the award on the night was David Vanns of event sponsors Weldricks. “Weldricks know that Pharmacy works because of team work. When a member of a team falls, Pharmacist Support are there to help them get back on their feet. It is our pleasure to try and help Pharmacist Support do this great work”.
