It’s Book Lovers’ Day (9th August) – so, switch off the TV, close down those emails and escape into a good book! Fiction or non-fiction, fantasy or crime, this is a day for bibliophiles across the globe – an opportunity to expand your mind and an excuse to kick back and relax with a great book, be that on a commute to work, or slumped on the couch! But there’s more than one way to celebrate. Here are six ideas to get you started:
1. Treat yourself to somethin’ new
Visit your local book store or charity shop and treat yourself to a new read. Or if you shop online – sign up to Give As You Live and raise a free donation for Pharmacist Support with your purchase. It’s a win-win!
2. Host your own book swap party
Host a book swap and exchange your old, disused books for a read that’s new-to-you.
3. Hit the library
You can’t go wrong… enjoy some quiet time away from work or home and re-familiarise yourself with the comforting smell of old books. Bliss!
4. Hold a second hand book sale this
A book sale is a brilliant way to free up some shelf space, share your well-loved literature with others and raise some cash…for more books OR for charity!
5. Organise a book-themed fancy dress fun day
Encourage friends, family or workmates to dress as their favourite literary characters!
6. Start or join your own a book lovers club
Join fellow wannabe bookworms at a local book club OR set up one yourself. There’s no better way to connect with friends than chatting about your favourite reads.
